Expansion of Lackland The Atomic Energy Commission, which owned Medina Base, transferred 231 acres of land and 88 buildings over to Lackland. The Officer Training School, which had been experiencing growing pains, moved from the main base to Medina. The Commission reliquished the rest of Medina to Lackland in 1966.
