I entered basic early in the morning of 9 Dec 72. I firmly believe that there is a regulation somewhere prohibiting daylight arrivals at BMT. My first shock was seeing my TI, SSgt Canterbury wearing low quarters. The uniform she was wearing sure didn't look like anything the recruiter showed me. She also wasn't too pleased to waiting for 2 A.M. stragglers. Amn Wyre was the team member. My flight was a bubble flight as we only had one sister flight. The TI for that flight was Sgt Heile. So between the two flights we were Heile's Belles and Wyre's Women. The next flight after us arrived four weeks later.

TSgt. Vince Medlock and SSgt. Lonnie Viltz were our MTIs. Will never forget the first night when TSgt. Medlock physically threw our dorm guard out for forgetting access security instructions! I was the dorm chief and survived all six weeks. Can still remember many flight-mates' last names. With the Vietnam War at its peak, a popular "Jodie" cadence was, "Airman, airman, have you heard? President Nixon's given the word. We're all going to Vietnam; we're gonna shoot some Viet Cong. If I die in Vietnam, send my body home to mom. In a pine box I will ride, six feet long and two feet wide."

Lost Flight Photo
I was in basic training from May - July 1972.
The squadron number escapes me, but the flight was 510. The TI's were Ssgt. Vaughn and Tsgt. Williams. Are there any members put there that would mind sending me a copy of the flight photo? Mine has been lost over the years and I would really enjoy seeing it again....Thanks !!

Sq 3723 Flight 027 1983
I found my bmt photo and submitted it to this site. My 4 years in the Air Force was the best thing I did for myself.
Anyone else here in my training class? I remember they used to call the 3723rd the Blue Marines.

BMT Photo
Some how I lost the top half of my BMT photo. I have the bottom half with all the names, but no picture. Looking for Flt 0011 that graduated BMT Feb-69. We were the first flight of the new year. Enlistment date was 12/31/68. I am trying to recover as much of my time in as possible to pass onto my Daughter who is currently E-3 at Offutt AFB, NE. The Pride continues.
