Enter your BMT Memory or question for the greater community. I started my journey in the Air Force Aug 3,1987 at Squadron 3743 Flight 803. I remember we had a female DI/TI Tsgt Breedlove. I unfortunately got out on a medical in April 1993. Hard to believe it has been 25 years. I was a SRA E-4 when I got out. Last duty Station was Cannon AFB Clovis NM. I thouroughly enjoyed my time in the service. I know it has been a long time since BMTS but if there is anyone who views this and has a picture of our Squadron 3743 Flt 803 photo I would love to see it either email or up on this site. Thank you, God Bless our Military.

To whom this may concern:
I don't have any photos from basic but have struggled for years to find them on the Internet and to connect with former Airmen. I graduated Lackland AFB the week of July 12 1979. I know graduation had to have happened around the 12th because I distinctly remember getting on a bus to Keesler AFB on Jul 13 of 1979. I don't remember the squadron number but it was 370...something and I remember our drill instructor called us Honor Flight 401. Maybe it was verbal only not sure. Don't remember his name either. However I do remember our sister flight's DI was Sgt. Johnson. Both DI's were white guys.
The purpose of this email to connect with someone who may have knowledge of a digitized graduation photo of our flight. One of the Airmen in my flight his last name was Waters. Wish I could give you more to work with. I would give anything to have a copy of that photo.
Hope to hear from someone
Regards,

Anyone know what became of Sgt Jennifer Chinn? My sister-flight at the time was 323 TRS/Flt W116, and that photo is on here (May 1995), and Sgt Chinn is visible in that pic. In my life I have only ever been afraid of 3 woman: My mother, my wife, and Sgt Jennifer Chinn. I hope that she's doing well now. One of my other team members was then TSgt Sanchez (though I'm sure he made Master at some point). I ran into him again at my duty station in Minot, which gave me the chance to thank him and let him know that his training meant a lot to me. Good man. TSgt Brown, SrA Shockley, Msgt Delgado... I have fond memories of all of them, though I'm sure they all ranked up after I knew them.

We had two great TI's (SSgt Serrato and Sgt Miller). I remember SSgt Serrato showing us how to spit shine out boots. Looked like glass when he was done. Most of us could not get the same results, so we opted to used mop and glow. Worked like a charm, but you had to strip down the boots each week and reapply the floor wax. Also, remember Sgt Miller doing a surprise inspection. During the inspection he had the radio playing pretty loud so everyone could hear the music. I believe it was a jazz station, so most of us were not familiar with the music. He would offer to not give you a demerit if you could name the name the tune that was playing at the time. If I remember correctly no one could name the tune, so the demerits remained. In the end we made Honor Flight, so I can say they did an outstanding job.

Enlisted 08 Jun 72 and arrived at Lackland sometime after midnight 09 Jun 72. Was met by TSGT Johnson after about a 10 minute wait. We were just lounging around waiting and smoking. Heard those now memorable sounds of heel plates coming. Got our first rude awakening at that time. He moved us to the old WWII barracks and had us bed down. The second rude awakening is military time began every morning at 0500 hrs. No exceptions. We were rainbows for almost two weeks until we were given our basic issue. I was almost set back because of pneumonia. Had it not been for my being laid up over the 4th of July holiday weekend, was a 3 day weekend, I would have been. Anyway folks I do not have my BMT photo. I was hoping maybe someone has a copy and would not mind sharing it via email. As I said TSGT Johnson was our TI and AIC Armstrong was his assistant TI. Thanks in advance if anyone can help me with this. John F Sinica intercessor45206@msn.com 28 Aug 18

Drum & Bugle Corps was the best! All previous demerits from first flight erased. Barracks were old, but secluded and had windows. Had our own Day Room and got to watch the Super Bowl in comfort. We ended up as an Honor Flight, and never had to pull kitchen duty, or base clean up. I only remember a few names: Roy Disney, Teresa Milsap, Becky Fish, and Pat Grier. Good times! Would love to hear from other Flight members.

Enter your BMT Memory or question for the greater community. I went into Basic Training in July 1972. Our Flt was 51. We wrote a song for our Flt, Flight 51 the Lackland Ladies. We were the first flight that did not automatically get our first stripe out of Basic. People were furious. If memory is correct, only 15% received a stripe upon graduating. We had skunks that lived under our steps that saved us from a number of surprise inspections. We had a male and a female TI, but I do not remember their names. Anyone from this flight, I would love to chat with you. I would love to see a Flight photo if one exists.

Service Sep 2 1966 - remember the early morning drills and hot hot days of
late summer early fall at Lackland AFB near San Antonio TX.
My fondest memory is of one of my best friends during this ordeal his name
Larry Gashewisz (can't remember spelling) but the TI always called him hunky
because of his Polish heritage. Another one of my classmates was Steve Spear
from Lordsburg NM., but can't recall any other names just faces.
I have misplaced my BMT photo and would really like to find someone in my
squadron who might be perusing this site and see my comments and perhaps get
in touch or send in a photo.
Thanks for giving us all who served a space to reflect remember and perhaps
connect once more with our band of brothers.

remember standing for a flight photo but there has to be one out there
somewhere. We were the across the hall from flight 280.
We had two Team Chiefs during our stay, Tsgt Vogel left us about half way
through and was replaced by our (then) Team Member SSgt Powell. On our
confidence course day Tsgt Vogel tried (in vain) to entice us to throw SSgt
Powell into one of the water hazards on the course. We resisted the urge but
it could have been such fun!
Pay was $448.80, WOW! Everyone went to church (no yelling). Avoid the "Snake

TI was Nils S. Pascusi. 15 of us were Guardsmen. I was Dorm Chief.
We were the TIs 25th Flight. He dubbed us Silver Flight and we painted a mural on the dorm wall depicting that.
I remember lots of stories (Amn Gromio from Philippines was near 35 and turning grey.
Someone in the other day pulled a shaving cream prank on him on night and he nearly killed them. (At least he scared them really good)).
We ended as the Honor Flight. I went to Keesler AFB, and left as honor graduate.
Cross trained to HVAc, then AGE, then back to Keesler on my 30th anniversary. I cross trained to Network Integration and again Honor Graduate. Retired as CMSgt at 60yo with 37+ years.

My travel orders has an entry that says "Normal Graduation Date: 7 Jan 66."
We took a group photo at Lackland. I have never seen a copy nor a yearbook from 1965 or 66 that has my Flight.

I would like to hear from anyone that was in the flight, or stationed later at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, where
I spent the next 3.5 years as an aircraft weapons mechanic, later as a weapons load team chief on the F-4 aircraft.
One of my t.i's banged on the entry door when I was the barracks guard, saying he had forgotten
his keys to the barracks. I didn't let him in. I knew I would be in trouble if I let him in... I am pretty sure he was testing me...
I know there were photos of our flight taken, but our flight marched so poorly, we didn't march in the graduation ceremony...

Looking for flight orders. Myself and a dozen other flight members were an illegal, secret experiment without our knowledge or permission in Basic Training. Nasopharyngeal Radium Irradiation (NRI).
I want to find out the names of the others and try to contact them to see if they suffered the same disabilities as I have. All of my personnel/medical records were cleaned so there is no record. When I left the Air Force my medical folder was 3-4 inches thick from my many visits to sick call about the things that were happening to me.
My hopes is to get those who haven’t been compensated for this to be. I was awarded a 100% Disable T&P.

Had an ex-Marine in my flight. Badass, nicest guy whom I credit with changing the course of my career. I was going for PJ service until he told me about the work in Vietnam. For the life of me can't remember his name. He was all shot up from two tours in Vietnam. I will never forget the first time the TI got in his face. My friend had some choice words for him and the TIs never messed with him again. He had a lasting effect on me.
Names I remember: Atkinson - Dorm chief TSgt Dudley - TI from Montgomery, AL [And he never let anyone forget it.]
The overused phrase of the time: "I'll knock your XXXX string up your XXX."
I lost 341s for laughing.
Chuka boots were the absolute worst!
Best memory: Too many to list, but base liberty was memorable. I lost her name and contact info, but we were behind a BX dumpster.

1992 end of Feb?
Looking for flight photo. I went in on Jan 2nd 1992, so if I remember correctly we would have graduated around the end of February.
Martin was our T.I. and was training Habercorn as a T.I.
Hoping someone out there has a picture!
My T.I. was TSgt Daniel D. DE Lacerta (last name spelling may be incorrect). He was the most professional man I have ever met in my life.
We were to be his last Flight, I believe that he was honored many times as T.I. of the month and even T.I. of the year, and he hated the attention it gave him.
I know you are supposed to hate your T.I. but there was not a man in our Flight that did admire him and respect him. TSgt Daniel D. DE Lacerta taught us first and foremost how fortunate we were to be Americans. He taught us so much about Character, Honor, and Respect.
Our Flight was 196 and we were an Honor Flight. I was his 4th Squad Leader. We busted our asses for him because we had such respect for him. Not out of fear or dread, but because we never wanted to disappoint him.
I really just don’t have the words to describe how he shaped my life for all the years since then.
I think we graduated around March of 1981. I would very much like to know anything you might have on him. It’s been many years and he would be pretty old now. I hope he is still around somewhere. I have high hopes that he is found, healthy and going strong.
I remember him telling us on or about our first day at Basic that his former job in the USAF was in Life Support. He was responsible for the pilots survival equipment in the event of having to egress the aircraft.
TSgt Daniel D. DE Lacerta told us that bit of his history to bring home a singular point, that EVERYONE’s job in the USAF was important. That if we did not do OUR job, that meant there was a breakdown further down the line. People could die. You could NOT have a bad day at work.
The USAF environment was unique in this. I went on to become a Crew Chief on C-130’s at LRAFB. I kept his words close to my heart during my time there. I became a Dedicated Crew Chief and I was very proud of that patch on my left chest.
Every inspection and every task I performed on my aircraft I heard his words in my mind. I am 61 years old now. I became a Firefighter, Paramedic, Fire Investigator, Rescue Specialist, Police Officer, and a Instructor in all those fields except Law Enforcement. Daniel’s words were loud and strong in my mind as I continued in the service of my Country.
I still think about Daniel and all he taught me. This small, unassuming man from a small village across the border in Mexico, who’s home had a dirt floor, who was so grateful to be able to immigrate to the United States, taught me more about what it means to be an American than anyone before or since.
Daniel, if you are out there, I really hope I get to see you again, shake your hand and tell you Thank-you. If not in this life then the next.
God Bless You Daniel, where ever you are.
With gratitude and sincerity,
Trenton R Sinclair Sr.
